About Julie Aronowitz, LCSW
I’m Julie Aronowitz, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing psychotherapy for adults in California. My approach is warm, collaborative, and reflective. I aim to create a space where you can speak openly, feel understood, and bring your full self into the room.
My Background
My experience includes more than five years providing general outpatient psychotherapy and more than seven years of hospice and bereavement counseling. This work has included caregiver and grief support groups, school-based therapy, clinical supervision and mentorship. Prior to becoming a clinical social worker, I spent almost ten years doing community-based work in a variety of settings. These experiences shape my grounded and compassionate approach to therapy.
My Orientation
As a clinical social worker, I view people in the context of their lives. I believe that your relationships, family history, culture, community, caregiving roles, losses, and life circumstances all shape how you experience yourself and others.
My Education and Training
I earned my Master of Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work in Massachusetts, where my training focused on psychodynamic clinical practice. My approach has also been shaped by ongoing study and consultation with the San Francisco Psychotherapy Research Group (SFPRG). This includes the 24 week intensive course Mastering the Art and Science of Psychotherapy and more than 5 years of participation in an SFPRG weekly case consultation group. In addition, I have completed EMDR basic training (an evidenced-based trauma-focused modality) and continuing education coursework in somatic therapy and grief counseling.
